2022: My Clean Beauty Routine Kick-Start

Are you ready to up your clean beauty game?  I know I am!  My 2022 glow-up is going to be fierce.  Here is what I am up to over here:

I recently scheduled my annual laser treatment with Harmony @ Aqua Medical Spa to dust off any residual sun damage and reduce redness. I usually schedule this to take place in February, while it is still winter and I am in the sun a little less, and I feel like it is always such a great way to start the year.

I have always been pretty good about being consistent with my skincare regimen. It is a priority of mine to make sure that the products I use every day are not only clean & safe, but also high-performing. You’ve probably heard me mention it a million times by now but I’ll say it again for the people in the back:  I am a loyal user of Beautycounter’s Countertime Anti-Aging line for these reasons. I use the whole shebang every a.m. / p.m. and I ALSO use their All Bright C Serum every morning.  I am sticking with this lineup for every day use in 2022 – and if you’re looking for a great anti-aging line, look no further.

Now we’ve covered the basics – let’s move on to my skincare intentions for 2022:

1) Wear SPF every day.  I can’t lie – I am not very consistent about this!  While I love Beautycounter’s Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20, I don’t necessarily want to apply “makeup” every day, so I am going to give the Glowscreen SPF 40 from Supergoop a try. It is supposed to be super hydrating and leave a dewy, glowy finish.  I hope I love the way it makes my skin feel, which will motivate me to use it every single day🤞🏻.

2) Wear SPF (again) – on my body.  I rarely do this and I am in the sun alllll the time.  I live in Florida, for crying out loud.  My issue is that I refuse to spray that toxic mist all over my body, and I just haven’t found a clean option that I love applying on a daily basis (though I LOVE this Beautycounter option for the pool / beach / boat – it is LEGIT).

Anyway, I digress.  When shopping the aforementioned Supergoop Glowscreen I noticed they recently launched Glow Oil SPF 50  – an ultra-hydrating sunscreen body oil that leaves skin glowing and protected, without feeling greasy. Might this be the answer to my prayers?  We shall see, it is en route to mi casa as I type…

3) Incorporate the weekly skincare ritual I’ve conjured up which includes: a steam session, a detox mask, and a Jade Roller / Gua Sha treatment, all used in conjunction with an arsenal of my skincare secret weapons.

Here is the step-by-step breakdown, including links to browse:

Step 1: Prep skin using Lotus Glow Cleansing Balm, which removes makeup and impurities with nourishing ingredients that won’t strip away skin’s natural moisture.  I’ve been obsessed for 6+ years.

Step 2: Steam. I recently pulled the trigger on this Vanity Planet Ionic Facial Steamer – steam for 10 minutes to detoxify my skin and open up pores, prepping my skin for a deeper cleanse with the next step.

Step 3: Apply an even layer of the Charcoal Facial Mask and let dry for 10 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with warm water.  This will help to calm, refine, and smooth the skin.

Step 4: Apply Mineral Boost Hydrating Essence, which instantly boosts hydration and radiance.  I pour a liberal amount into my hand and pat into face and neck with fingertips.

Step 5: Apply 4-6 drops of the Ylang Ylang Balancing Facial Oil and smooth into face and neck – then get to work with the Jade Roller & Gua Sha Stone! If you’re a newbie like me, this DIY tutorial video is very helpful!

4) I saved the best (worst) for last…my 4th and final intention is cutting back on the vino.  As per New York nutritionist Jairo Rodriguez, who counts designers and Vogue editors among his clients: “I always joke with my patients, ‘If you want to get older, go ahead and drink!’”.  Ouch.  Click here for a full read on the effects of alcohol and aging.  If you dare, of course.

Do you have any skincare / aesthetic goals in 2022?  Am I missing anything?  Don’t hold back – give me the full scoop!

xoxo,

VB
